The NMP was created to provide skills development through service learning surrounding issues of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for students. This program is designed to recognize and encourage employee/student participation in volunteer and social-leadership performance. The program is intended to increase the participants’ awareness of the social and management issues that the partnering of non-profits and private-sector companies can resolve.
Do I need to have a charity job in mind to apply?
No, but you do need passion for charitable work and you can't be afraid of hard work. We can match you with a charity.
How many students will be accepted?
Currently 20 - 30 depending on corporate response. Molson Coors is sponsoring 19 students!!!
Do I need to include my resume?
Yes
How much will I get paid?
$7,000 for the summer - but you need to negotiate holidays and pay out times with your charitable partner.
How much time is required for the mentoring?
20 minutes a week.
How do I qualify?
To qualify for the program,
individual students will do 8 hours planning for their chosen charity with a
Molson Coors mentor or two of two students will contribute for 16 hours (8
hours each) between January 2010 and April 2010. Students will be responsible
for choosing the charity, and their chosen charity must agree to participate.
The charity supported must not contravene Molson Coors’ philanthropic policy.
Because Molson Coors is a beer company, there are legal restrictions regarding
which charitable causes it can support. Students will need to understand this
and will learn from having to operate under the same regulations Molson Coors
must follow. Students will be encouraged to pick a project involving a charity
that can make use of their education and specialized knowledge: for example,
students might produce a marketing plan or a fundraising/sales plan for a
charity. Outreach projects associated with with partner universities may be used as
entries to this competition (if the charity agrees). Students will be required
to record when they meet with the mentors weekly during the months of January
to April 2010
